Kakheti is a historical region located in the east of Georgia. Kakheti is divided into three parts: Gare (external), Shida (internal) Kakheti and Kiziki. The external and internal Kakheti is divided by Gombori ridge. Two major rivers run through this region – Alazani in the east and Iori in the west. In Kakheti winter is cold and summer is hot. The highland province Tusheti is the part of Kakheti. Kakheti is famous for viticulture-winemaking. Here are found the oldest centers of winemaking, equipment for wine production and unique varieties of grapevine.
