TOUR DESCRIPTION
Day 1: Arrival in Tbilisi. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay in Tbilisi.
Day 2: Tbilisi - Sno Gorge – Juta - Kazbegi
In the morning we leave for Kazbegi (160 km). We follow the Georgian Military Road and turn north. We drive along the Gorge of the Aragvi River, pass the Ananuri fortress, Zhinvali water reservoir, Mtiuleti, the ski resort Gudauri and passing through the Cross Pass we get to Kazbegi. The first in turn spectacle waiting for us in Khevy (ethnographic name of Kazbegi region) is the travertine and acidic mineral waters, which occur along the way. Before reaching Kazbegi, we turn off into the Sno Gorge. The narrow road leads to the small village of Juta (2165m.). Surrounded by mountains, it is completely cut off from the whole world for six months. After a picnic lunch, we go trekking to the foot of Chaukhebi Mountain (3842 m). In half an hour you can see a picturesque mountain. We go up to the foot of the mountain. (Trekking time: 5 hours). After trekking we arrive in Kazbegi. Accommodation in a hotel. Dinner. Overnight stay in Kazbegi.
Day 3: Kazbegi – Gergeti - Kazbgi
After breakfast we shall start trekking to the foot of the city of Kazbeg. Two hour's walk along the paths to the mountain will take us to the Gergeti Church (2170m). After rest we start to climb the mountain path, which mainly passes through alpine meadows. The purpose of trekking is to reach the first glacier of the mountain Kazbegi (5047 m above sea level). For tourists with a good physical training one way road takes about 4 hours; Although, it is not necessary to reach the glacier. All the places, along which the path leads, are strikingly beautiful. There are views of Kazbegi and St.Trinity, alpine meadows are covered with colorful flowers. (trekking time 7-8 h.) In the evening return to Kazbegi. Dinner. Overnight stay.
Day 4: Dariali Gorge – Gveleti – Truso Gorge - Tbilisi
In the morning we shall visit two waterfalls of Gveleti. From Kazbegi towards the border of the Russian Federation, before reaching the village Gveleti, we turn left along an unpaved (dirt road) road. After 5- 10 minutes driving, we continue our journey on foot, along the path. First we go to a small waterfall, and then to a big waterfall. Both take about 1.5 hours. The height of the large waterfall is about 30-40 m. From Gveleti we return back, and driving through Kazbegi we drive into Truso Gorge, where there are pools with acidic waters, to which you have to make your way along the footpath. We reach the old sentinel towers and return back. (trekking time is 4.5 hours.). Return in Tbilisi in the evening.Overnight stay in Tbilisi.
Day 5: Tbilisi
Breakfast and transfer to the airport.
