TOUR DESCRIPTION
Day1: Tbilisi - Abano Pass - Omalo - Shenaco - Diklo - Omalo.
Early in the morning we go to the north-east of Georgia - to the province of Tusheti. Tusheti is located on the northern slope of a large Caucasian ridge at an altitude of 4500 meters above sea level. On the way, we will admire the stunning views and the waterfall and through the Abano pass (2950 m above sea level) we will arrive in the village Omalo – the regional center of Tusheti. Omalo is divided into two parts: Upper Omalo and Lower Omalo. After accommodation in the guest houseand rest we will look round the Lower Omalo or to be more precise the beautiful village Shenako, the ruins of the old Diklo, enchanting natural landscapes, the diversity of birds. In the evening, we shall return to Omalo and have Tushetian dinner. Overnight stay in Omalo.
Day 2: Upper Omalo - Dartlo - Kvavlo - Dano - Parsma - Omalo.
After breakfast we shall visit Upper Omalo. The historical region of Omalo-Keselo - is a fortress village. Until these days, seven towers are preserved. In one of the towers of Keselo is an ethnographic museum, where household implements and military weapons of Tushetian people are represented. Then we shall head to Piriketa Tusheti, in the village Dartlo, which is located at an altitude of 2000
m. above sea level. The village Dartlo is one of the unique treasures of Georgian architecture. After picnic-lunch, we shall go towards the alpine, long-deserted villages of Kvavlo and Dano, explore the preserved fortress- towers, and arrive to the village Parsma. Here there are dilapidated towers, which once used to have defensive function, and the height of which varies from 1.5 to 4.5 meters. In the evening return to Omalo. Tushetian dinner. Overnight in Omalo.
Day 3: Omalo - Gometsari Gorge - Bochorna - Dochu - Jvarboseli - Telavi - Tbilisi
After breakfast, we shall visit the beautiful Gometsari gorge and the villages that are located here: Bochorna, a settlement that is located at an altitude of 2350 m. above sea level; Dochu, an abandoned village, where the preserved house-fortresses make an indelible impression; Jvarboseli, one of the oldest villages where shepherds stop in abandoned houses (settlements) when they drive flock. There is an indescribable natural beauty around the village. After this we return to Omalo, have lunch and leave for Tbilisi via the Abano Pass. If desired, you will have the opportunity to visit the thermal baths of Torgva.
